Friendly Visiting (In Person)

  • Older Adult Mental Wellness

Program Overview

Friendly Visiting is a volunteer-based program that provides friendship and social engagement for older adults through one-on-one relationships. Community members, families and case management programs identify and refer older adults to community-based Friendly Visiting Programs.  The programs recruit and screen volunteers and provide training and ongoing support to volunteers and clients to ensure engagements are rewarding to both parties. Volunteers visit older adults in their homes and/or visit on telephone and video calls for an hour per week.  Many relationships are sustained over many years and can provide ongoing companionship for both older adults and volunteers.
