PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE IN A FOOD DISTRIBUTION WAREHOUSE SETTING AND VOLUNTEERS SHOULD DRESS WARM.  

 

About The Event:

The Campaign Against Hunger NYC will be packaging groceries to be distributed to older adults and families. Join NYC Aging in support of this good work and commit to a day (or two) of service. 

Date(s):

  • Monday, January 16th, 2023

(further information on shift times below)

Location:

Queens, NY (Far Rockaway/Arverne) 

Further arrival instructions will be provided prior to the event

Volunteers should: 

  • Be comfortable standing for the majority of their shift

  • Be comfortable lifting and carrying 10+ pounds

  • Dress appropriately for the weather (likely cold and very windy) and for physical activity (including closed toe shoes, comfortable clothing, gloves, etc.)

  • Complete "Code of Conduct" and "Liability Waiver" forms

Tasks:

  • Volunteers will help pack grocery food items. Additional tasks may involve breaking down boxes and other setup/breakdown related work.

Training:

  • A brief orientation and task overview will be provided upon arrival
